Wisconsin Shandy in Farm to Table Dish
06 Jan, 2017
The story of Chippewa Falls is ever-changing, just like the waters of the Chippewa River and Big Eddy Springs. But water isn’t the only thing that flows in Chippewa Falls.
Leinenkugel’s beer has been filling steins there since it became home to the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company in 1867. Jacob, a German immigrant, came to Wisconsin from Meckenheim, Germany in 1845.
Equipped with German brewing knowledge and tradition passed down through generations, Jacob started his brewery in 1867 in the logging town of Chippewa Falls. Its rich soil was perfect for growing hops and grains, and the pure water that ran through the town was a perfect ingredient for crafting beer.
Today, Leinenkugels is in the 6th generation of family management spearheaded by CJ, Ellie, Matt, and Kirk Leinenkegel who still are producing Jacob’s recipes to this day.
Try the Bavarian Dunkel in this month’s Farm to Table dish, featuring honey balsamic beer glazed shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables of the day. This dish is available through January 31, 2017.
