Farm to Table: Steven’s Point Brewery

27 Feb, 2017

For the month of March, Grey Rock is featuring Stevens Point Brewery and Ciderboys Cider, which was opened in 1857 by George Ruder and Frank Whale. Over the years ownership has changed hands as well as the name, but this year the brewery turns 160 years old.

Ciderboys First Press will be featured at Grey Rock all through March as part of the Farm to Table dish.

This makes it the 5th oldest continually operating brewery in the US and 3rd oldest under private ownership. The years have seen the brewery’s products change: during the prohibition this meant non-alcoholic near beer products and sodas. In 2012 it meant throwing their hat into the hard cider ring. The concept was simple: to use great products and let the natural flavors come through.

All Ciderboys products are made with fresh fruit juice and have no sugar added during the process. In 2013 Ciderboys won 4 medals at the World Beer Championship the most of any cider maker.

This month Grey Rock is featuring Stevens Point Brewery and their Ciderboys First press, which is one of two ciders offered year round. You can try this in the Farm to Table dish; Maple Hard Cider Salmon with Spring Blend Rice & Vegetables of the Day. This dish is available March 1 -31, 2017.

Grey Rock is open for dinner Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. The piano bar lounge opens at 4:30 p.m. and features live entertainment every Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. Make your reservations online or call 800.444.2812.
