7 Reasons to Attend a Heidel House Pig Roast

1. Food, and lots of it. For just $29 per person, we’re asking you to enjoy a whole lot more food than we believe you might even be able to handle. We’re talking a whole-smoked hog, grilled BBQ chicken, smoked brisket, corn on the cob, southern mac & cheese, fire roasted asparagus, drunken apples … and that’s just a start.

2. Celebrate “hump day.” You’re halfway through the work week and very much looking forward to the weekend. Give you and your family some motivation during the front end of the week by looking forward to a Pig Roast and some motivation during the tail end of the week by using a Pig Roast outing as a teaser for the weekend ahead.

3. Summer is for cookouts. Is there really a better way to spend a summer evening than outdoors with your family and friends, enjoying great food and beautiful lake views? We think not.

4. Unique BBQ sauce flavors. One doesn’t just come to a Heidel House Resort & Spa Pig Roast and enjoy their pork with some normal barbeque sauce. No, siree! You’ll have the option of trying Smokey Southern BBQ Sauce, Mango BBQ Sauce and Spicy Jerk BBQ Sauce. (Just try all three; no judgment here.)

5. You won’t be able to resist the smell. The summer of 2014 was the first year Heidel House culinary team hosted Pig Roasts. Each time one of these delicious events rolled around, guests and community members couldn’t stop asking, “What is that amazing smell?” That, folks, would be the China Box Roaster cooking up that whole-smoked hog we were talking about.

6. You may never taste better-cooked pork. As mentioned, the Heidel House culinary team uses a China Box Roaster, essentially a convection oven that cooks three times faster than the conventional way. This roaster keeps the pork moist and tender but cooks the skin to a crispy, golden brown.

7. The view is just as great as the food. Pig Roasts take place on the Daycholah Terrace overlooking Big Green Lake. Sitting with your friends and family, you’ll be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of lake life while the sun sets on Green Lake’s horizon.

This year’s Pig Roasts are on Wednesdays, June 24, July 15, Aug. 19 and Sept. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. Reservations are required. For reservations, call 800.444.2812.
