3 Easy, Summertime Cocktails
22 Jun, 2018
Summer time calls for sunny weather, backyard gatherings and ice cold beverages. Since it is one of the most popular times for entertaining, we decided to create a list of three easy, refreshing drinks that you can make for your next summer gathering. Don’t worry, these are some of the most simple recipes around so you don’t need any mixology experience to make them.
Gin and Tonic
An oldie but a goodie, the classic gin and tonic cocktail possibly is one of the most refreshing drinks for a summer gathering. All you need is 2 oz. of gin, 3 oz. of tonic water and a lime wedge. To make: pour the ingredients into a chilled, tall glass with ice and garnish with the lime wedge.
For those who like vodka and don’t mind the taste of ginger, this one’s for you. We like the idea of serving these up for your next outdoor barbeque in the popular copper mugs. Not a fan of vodka? You can use rum as a substitute! To make: squeeze lime juice into the bottom of the mug, then add 2 oz. vodka or rum and 4 oz. ginger beer. Give it a slight stir and garnish with a lime wedge.
Mojitos are more labor-intensive than other drinks but trust us, the end result is worth it. You will need 6 mint leaves, .75 oz. simple syrup, .75 oz. fresh lime juice, 2 oz. white rum and 2 oz. club soda. To make: lightly muddle the mint in a shaker; add the simple syrup, lime juice and rum – then fill with ice; shake well and pour (unstrained) into a tall glass; top with club soda and use a mint sprig as the garnish. Need a demonstration on how to make one? We’re currently serving up a Lemon Mojito as our Charity Drink until the end of June at Grey Rock. Stop by Grey Rock, order a Lemon Mojito, and our bartenders will be happy to show you how they make them!
Grey Rock is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. The piano bar opens at 4:30 p.m. and features live entertainment every Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. Be sure to check out our Grey Rock #HappyHour every Thursday and Friday from 4:30 – 6:30 PM that features a specialty charity drink by Bernie the Bartender. A portion of the proceeds from this month’s charity drink, a lemon mojito, will go to the local Food Bank. Make your reservations online or call 920.294.3344.
